In my fellowship, I work with Dr. Kristin Wilson Grimes and Allie Durdall in UVI’s GRROE Mangrove Restoration Lab to develop a standard operating procedure for mangrove and wetland bird surveys during the annual Territorial Mangrove Monitoring Program. This work will help document bird use of these ecosystems and support future conservation efforts in the territory. I am excited to contribute to GRROE’s restoration work, deepen my understanding of mangrove ecosystems, and collaborate with local bird experts to help protect these habitats for years to come.
